Melissa's Modifications:
If you have stored in the fridge, when ready to use, bring out and allow the confit to come to room temperature, or you can warm in the microwave for 20-30 seconds.
The Garlic Confit is a wonderful spread for a crusty bread as an hors d'oeuvres.  Try using other herbs for different flavoring - Rosemary, Thyme.
Alternatively, for a quicker cooking method is to combined all ingredients in a saucepan on low heat. Bring to a simmer and cook until garlic is tender and slightly browned, about 30 min. Remove from heat and let cool completely.
