If you are Vegetarian or Vegan, leave the meat/chicken/shrimp out, add marinated tofu for protein, if desired. Other options: The kebabs can be marinated veggies, or you can add fruit such as chunks of pineapple, peaches or watermelon … delicious grilled; add other veggies such as peppers, carrots, purple potatoes and corn … be creative!
Flavorings for marinating kebabs include seasonings and dipping sauces – endless! For sauces, think tahini, pesto, fruit glazes, teriyaki, Thai peanut, curry, or balsamic, just to get you thinking. Tossing skewer foods with olive oil and a seasoning such as za’tar, garlic, Italian spices, or Indian spices add tons of flavors. Kebabs can be for dessert as well. Making a colorful fruit kebab can be dipped in chocolate or other sweet sauces.
